Fat Loss Diet – Which ones really work

By

Fat Loss DietSo many different fat loss diets have sprang up over the past 20 years, some sensible and some whacky and others with names developed by the marketing men, it's hard to choose which one to choose.

At opposite ends of the fat loss diet spectrum you have Ultra Low Carb like the Atkins Diet that severely restricts carbohydrate, it's effective, you do burn fat quickly however it's hard to adhere to for a lot of people on a longer term basis.

At the other end of the spectrum you have high carb/low fat diets, these work by gradually restricting the amount of calories that you get, however the major downside of these fat loss diets is that instead of losing just fat you can end up losing muscle mass.

Losing your muscle mass when dieting is one of the worst things that can happen to you because when this happens it slows your metabolism down because muscle requires a lot of energy to keep it active, it's a bit like a gaz guzzling 4×4 that burns calories instead of petrol.

Low fat diets also end up being high carb diets and carbohydrates can make you fat, they do this by causing your blood sugar to rise and when this happens insulin is produced, any excess sugar in your blood stream gets converted to fat.

As with most things the best option is the one that is in the middle ground; what I suggest you look for in a fat loss diet is

  • High Protein
  • Moderate Healthy Fats ( Omega3 oils and Olive Oils)
  • Low to Moderate Carbs – with the emphasis on broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower.

If you follow these guiding principles you wont go too far wrong.
